Hommage (2022 Film)

Hommage (Korean: 오마주) is a 2022 South Korean drama film written and directed by Shin Su-won. The film explores themes of artistic struggle, gender roles in the film industry, and the historical preservation of cinema.

Plot

The story centers on Kim Ji-wan (played by Lee Jung-eun), a film director facing professional stagnation after her latest project fails at the box office. Under pressure from her husband, Sang-woo (Kwon Hae-hyo), to prioritize financial stability, she accepts a job restoring a film by the late director Hong Eun-won, one of South Korea's earliest female filmmakers who worked during the 1960s. While working on the restoration of the film Female Judge, Ji-wan discovers missing footage and begins a journey to uncover the life and career of her predecessor.
