Her Acting (2013)

Her Acting (Korean: 그녀의 연기; RR: Keunyeoui Yeongi) is a 2013 South Korean short film directed by Kim Tae-yong. The film, which has a runtime of 27 minutes, explores themes of deception and performance within a family context.

Plot

The story follows Young-Hee (played by Kong Hyo-jin), a woman who travels from Seoul to Jeju Island. She has been hired by a man named Chul-Soo (played by Park Hee-soon) to pose as his fiancée. Chul-Soo's father is terminally ill and has long expressed a desire to see his son married. As they travel to visit the father, the pair rehearse a fabricated romantic history, though Chul-Soo remains emotionally distant. Upon receiving news that his father has lost consciousness, they rush to the hospital, where Young-Hee must maintain the charade for the sake of the dying man.

Production and Release

The film was originally produced as a segment for the omnibus film Beautiful 2012. Following its initial release, it was screened at the Indie Space theater in Seoul, South Korea, starting on June 13, 2013.
