Haruka Ayase (born Aya Tademaru; March 24, 1985) is a prominent Japanese actress, model, and singer from Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Represented by the talent agency Horipro, she has built a prolific career spanning television dramas, feature films, and commercial music recordings since her debut in the early 2000s.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Born in Asaminami-ku, Hiroshima City, Haruka Ayase was actively involved in athletics during her youth, playing basketball in middle school and participating in long-distance relay events. In her freshman year of high school, she entered the entertainment industry by auditioning for the 25th Horipro Talent Scout Caravan, successfully launching her professional career. She subsequently relocated to Tokyo, where she initially worked as a gravure idol before transitioning into dramatic acting.

Acting Career

Ayase gained widespread public recognition following her appearance in the 2003 Fuji TV drama The Way I Live. Her breakthrough role came when she was selected out of 723 contestants to portray Hirose Aki in the 2004 TBS television drama Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World.

Over the subsequent decades, Ayase established herself as a versatile lead actress across diverse cinematic genres. Her notable film roles include a cyborg in Cyborg Girl (2008), an airline cabin attendant in Happy Flight (2008), a blind swordswoman in Ichi (2008), a junior high school volleyball coach in Oppai Volleyball (2009), and Sachi Kouda in Hirokazu Kore-eda's family drama Our Little Sister (2015).

Music Career

In addition to her acting work, Ayase ventured into the Japanese music industry. She released her debut single, "Period," in 2006, which peaked at number eight on the weekly Oricon singles chart. She followed this release with subsequent singles including "Kosaten Days" (2006) and "Hikoki Gumo" (2007).
