Genkai in a Black Company
Genkai in a Black Company (Japanese: ブラック会社に勤めてるんだが、もう俺は限界かもしれない) is a 2009 Japanese drama film directed by Yuichi Sato. The film explores the harsh realities of the Japanese workplace, specifically focusing on the phenomenon of the burakku gaisha, or "black company," a term used to describe businesses that exploit employees through excessive overtime and poor working conditions.

Background and Origin
The film is based on a popular thread from the Japanese internet forum 2chan. The source material gained significant attention for its candid depiction of the struggles faced by a young programmer in a toxic work environment. This origin is similar to that of Densha Otoko, another notable story that emerged from the same online community. The narrative was also adapted into a best-selling novel in 2008 prior to the film's release.
Plot
The story follows Masao Oneta (Teppei Koike), a 26-year-old man who, after years of social withdrawal, secures a position as a programmer at a small IT firm called Kuroishi Systems Corporation. Struggling with the demands of the modern economy, Masao soon discovers that his new workplace is a "black company." He documents his experiences and frustrations anonymously online under the username "MAO." The film depicts his daily challenges, including intense workloads, interpersonal conflicts with colleagues, and the pressure of meeting project deadlines under an exploitative management structure.
