Dr. Romantic 3

Dr. Romantic 3 (Korean: 낭만닥터 김사부3) is a South Korean medical drama series that aired on SBS from April 28 to June 17, 2023. It serves as the third installment in the Dr. Romantic franchise, following the 2016 original series and the 2020 sequel. The series was directed by Yu In-sik and written by Kang Eun-kyung.

Plot

The narrative continues to follow the dedicated medical team at Doldam Hospital, led by the brilliant surgeon Kim Sabu (portrayed by Han Suk-kyu). The hospital expands its operations with the addition of a new, state-of-the-art trauma center. As the staff prepares for this transition, they face complex ethical and medical challenges, including a crisis involving patients from a North Korean vessel, which forces the team to navigate political tensions alongside their clinical duties. The arrival of Cha Jin-man (Lee Kyoung-young), an old rival of Kim Sabu and the father of surgeon Cha Eun-jae, introduces further professional and personal conflict within the hospital.

Production

The production of the third season began with the first script reading in October 2022. The series occupied the Friday and Saturday 22:00 time slot on SBS, succeeding Taxi Driver 2 and preceding the broadcast of Revenant.
