Plot

The story is set on the fictional Shikina Island, a remote location in the Japanese archipelago situated several hours away from the main islands. The narrative follows Kensuke Koto, a young physician who arrives on the island to practice medicine. Initially, he faces skepticism and resistance from the local inhabitants, who are unaccustomed to his presence and methods. Furthermore, the local clinic lacks sufficient medical equipment, forcing Dr. Koto to adapt to the challenging environment. The series explores themes of human connection, the importance of life, and the bonds between family and community members on the isolated island.

Although the protagonist's name is Goto, the local islanders pronounce it as "Koto," which serves as the basis for the series title.
