Doenjang (2010 Film)
Doenjang (Korean: 된장), released internationally as The Recipe, is a 2010 South Korean mystery-drama film written and directed by Lee Seo-Goon. The film explores the intersection of culinary tradition and human connection through the lens of a television investigation.

Plot
The narrative follows Choi Yu-Jin (Ryu Seung-Ryong), a television producer who becomes intrigued by a death-row inmate's final wish: to taste a specific, legendary version of doenjang jjigae (Korean bean paste stew). As Choi investigates the origins of this recipe, he encounters a mysterious woman named Jang Hye-Jin (Lee Yo-Won). The investigation reveals the emotional history of Hye-Jin and her relationship with Kim Hyun-Soo (Lee Dong-Wook).

Production
The film was produced by Kim Jin-Young with cinematography by Na Hee-Suk. Principal photography concluded on April 20, 2009. Lead actor Lee Dong-Wook began his mandatory military service shortly thereafter on April 24, 2009, which prevented him from participating in the film's promotional activities.

Release and Festivals
Doenjang had its world premiere at the 15th Pusan International Film Festival in October 2010, followed by a theatrical release in South Korea on October 21, 2010.
