Doctors (2016 South Korean TV Series)

Doctors (Korean: 닥터스; RR: Doctorseu) is a South Korean medical drama television series that aired on SBS from June 20 to August 23, 2016. The series, which consists of 20 episodes, was broadcast on Monday and Tuesday at 22:00. It was directed by Oh Choong-hwan and Park Soo-jin, with the screenplay written by Ha Myung-hee.

Background and Production

The series was originally developed under the working title Yeoggangpae Hyejung, which translates to "Female Gangster Hye-Jung." The production held its first script reading on April 28, 2016, at the SBS Ilsan Production Studios in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The first teaser trailer was filmed on May 28, 2016.

Doctors occupied the Monday and Tuesday 22:00 time slot on SBS, following the conclusion of The Royal Gambler. It was subsequently replaced by Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo on August 29, 2016. Due to the broadcast of the 2016 Summer Olympics, the schedule was adjusted, with episode 18 airing on Monday, August 22, to accommodate the preemption of the originally scheduled Tuesday, August 16, broadcast.

The series features a large ensemble cast, including:

  • Yun Kyun-sang as Jung Yoon-do
  • Ji Soo as Kim Soo-chul

The supporting cast includes Kim Young-ae, Jung Hae-kyun, Park Ji-a, Han Bo-bae, and Moon Ji-in. Actor Lee Ki-woo made a cameo appearance in the first episode.
