Criminal Minds (2017 South Korean TV Series)

Criminal Minds is a South Korean television series that aired in 2017 on the cable network tvN. The series is a remake of the long-running American procedural drama of the same name, which originally premiered on CBS in 2005. The Korean adaptation follows a team of criminal profilers who analyze the behavior and psychology of offenders to solve complex cases.

Production and Broadcast

The series was directed by Yang Yun-Ho and Lee Jung-Hyo, with a screenplay written by Hong Seung-Hyun. Production began with the first script reading on April 7, 2017, at the CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul. Principal photography commenced shortly thereafter on April 17, 2017. The show holds the distinction of being the first tvN drama series to occupy the Wednesday and Thursday time slot, airing from July 26 to September 28, 2017. It was succeeded in that slot by Avengers Social Club.

Cast

The series features an ensemble cast portraying the members of the National Criminal Investigation (NCI) team. Notable lead actors include Lee Joon-Gi as Kim Hyun-Joon, Son Hyun-Joo as Kang Ki-Hyung, and Moon Chae-Won as Ha Sun-Woo. Other key cast members include Yoo-Sun, Lee Sun-Bin, Go Yoon, and Kim Young-Chul.

Development

During the casting process, actress Kim A-Joong was initially offered the lead female role but ultimately declined the offer. The production team focused on adapting the American procedural format to fit the Korean television landscape, maintaining the core premise of criminal profiling.
