Brave Citizen (2023 Film)

Brave Citizen (Korean: 용감한 시민; RR: Yongamhan Shimin) is a 2023 South Korean action-drama film directed by Park Jin-pyo. The film is based on the webcomic of the same name written by Kim Jung-hyun, which was serialized on Naver from 2014 to 2016.

Plot

The story follows So Shi-min (played by Shin Hae-sun), a former promising boxer who now works as a contract teacher at a high school. Her primary ambition is to secure a tenured position, leading her to adopt a policy of avoiding conflict and ignoring problematic behavior within the school environment. However, her resolve is tested when she encounters Han Su-kang (played by Lee Jun-young), a student known for his violent behavior and frequent involvement in fights.

Production

The film was directed by Park Jin-pyo, with a screenplay written by Yeo Ji-na and Hyun Chung-yeol. Principal photography for the project commenced on December 30, 2021, and concluded on April 5, 2022. The film was distributed by Mindmark and released in South Korea on October 25, 2023, with a total runtime of 113 minutes.
