Box! (2010 Film)
Box! (Japanese: ボックス!) is a 2010 Japanese sports drama film directed by Toshio Lee. The film is based on the novel Box! Bokkusu! by Naoki Hyakuta, which was published by Ohta Publishing Company on June 19, 2008. The story centers on the dynamics within a high school boxing club in Osaka, following the lives of two childhood friends, Kabu and Yuki.

Plot
Kabu, portrayed by Hayato Ichihara, is a high school student known for his rebellious nature in class but his exceptional skill in the boxing ring. His life takes a turn when he encounters his childhood friend, Yuki (Kengo Kora), on a subway train. After discovering that Yuki has returned to town and enrolled in his school, Kabu encourages him to join the boxing club. Despite his initial hesitation, Yuki commits to the sport with earnest dedication. The narrative follows their development as athletes, their personal challenges, and their rivalry with a formidable opponent named Inamura.
Production
The film was produced by Toho and TBS, with a screenplay written by Kenichi Suzuki and Daisuke Habara. Principal photography took place in Osaka and Tokyo, beginning in January 2010 and spanning approximately two months. To prepare for his role, lead actor Hayato Ichihara underwent intensive boxing training under the guidance of former professional boxing champion Nobuyuki Tabata, starting in August 2009.

Reception and Festivals
Box! was released in Japan on May 22, 2010. The film was featured at the 14th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in July 2010, where it was presented as part of the Vision Express section.
