Bloody Heart (Television Series)
Bloody Heart (Korean: 붉은 단심; RR: Beulgeun Danshim) is a South Korean historical drama series that aired on KBS2 in 2022. The series, which consists of 16 episodes, was broadcast on Monday and Tuesday nights at 21:30 KST from May 2 to June 21, 2022.
Plot
The narrative centers on King Lee Tae (played by Lee Joon), whose father ascended to the throne by deposing the previous monarch with the assistance of Park Gye-Won (played by Jang Hyuk). As the new king, Lee Tae seeks to establish himself as an absolute monarch, often justifying any means necessary to achieve his political goals. This ambition brings him into direct conflict with First Vice-Premier Park Gye-Won, who wields significant influence in the royal court and opposes the king's desire for absolute power. The plot further complicates when Yoo Jung (played by Kang Han-Na), a woman from a noble family whom Lee Tae considers his wife, becomes entangled in the intense power struggle within the palace.
Production
The series was directed by Yoo Young-Eun and written by Park Pil-Joo. It occupied the KBS2 Monday and Tuesday 21:30 time slot, following the conclusion of Crazy Love and preceding Cafe Minamdang. The production reunited actors Lee Joon and Jang Hyuk, who had previously collaborated on the 2013 KBS2 series IRIS 2.
