Bitter Sweet Hell

Bitter Sweet Hell (Korean: 우리 집; RR: Woori Jib) is a South Korean television series that premiered on May 24, 2024, and concluded on June 29, 2024. The series aired on MBC in the Friday and Saturday 21:50 time slot. It is categorized as a mystery and black comedy.

Plot

The story follows No Yeong-Won (Kim Hee-Seon), a renowned psychology consultant and celebrity who appears to have a perfect life. She is married to Choi Jae-Jin (Kim Nam-Hee), a successful and seemingly supportive doctor. Despite her professional success and stable family life, Yeong-Won experiences persistent friction with her mother-in-law, Hong Sa-Gang (Lee Hye-Young), a charismatic and sensitive mystery novelist. The family's stability is threatened when Yeong-Won becomes entangled in an unexpected case, forcing her and Sa-Gang to collaborate to protect their family.

Production

The series was directed by Kim Seung-Woo and written by Nam Ji-Yeon. During its development, the project was known by the working title Gaslighting. The role of Lee Se-Na was initially cast with Kang Hae-Rim, who later withdrew from the project; the role was subsequently filled by Yeon Woo.
