At the End of the Matinee (Japanese: マチネの終わりに) is a 2019 Japanese romantic drama film directed by Hiroshi Nishitani. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Keiichiro Hirano, which was serialized in the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper between March 2015 and January 2016.

Plot

The story follows Satoshi Makino, a world-renowned classical guitarist, and Yoko Komine, a journalist. Their lives intersect, leading to a deep mutual attraction. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Yoko is already engaged to another man.

Production

Principal photography for the film commenced in September 2018 and concluded in late November 2018. The production featured international filming locations, including Japan, Paris, France, and New York, USA.
