America Town (2018 Film)

America Town is a South Korean drama film directed by Jeon Soo-Il. Released on December 6, 2018, the film examines the social environment of the so-called "America Towns"—areas that emerged in South Korea following the 1950s to provide entertainment and services for U.S. military personnel.

Plot

The narrative centers on Sang-Guk, played by Kim Dan-Yul, a young man working at his father's photography studio. In the context of the film's setting, Sang-Guk earns money by secretly developing nude photographs for U.S. soldiers stationed in the area. His routine is disrupted when a bar worker named Young-Rim, portrayed by Lim Chae-Young, visits the studio to have a photo taken for identification purposes.

The film was directed by Jeon Soo-Il. Principal photography for the project was conducted over a one-month period, beginning on January 15, 2017, and concluding on February 15, 2017.
