After the Quake is a Japanese film directed by Tsuyoshi Inoue, released on October 3, 2025. The film is based on the short story collection Kami no Kodomotachi wa Mina Odoru (after the quake) by author Haruki Murakami, which was originally published in the literary magazine Shincho on February 25, 2000.

Plot Synopsis
The narrative spans several decades, exploring themes of loss, identity, and the lingering effects of trauma. In 1995, a man named Komura (Masaki Okada) travels to Kushiro following the sudden disappearance of his wife. In 2011, a young woman named Junko (Yui Narumi) undergoes a period of self-reflection through her interactions with a man who maintains bonfires. In 2020, Yoshiya (Daichi Watanabe), raised by a devout mother, grapples with questions regarding his absent father. By 2025, a security guard named Katagiri (Koichi Sato) lives in a manga cafe in Tokyo. As a mythical entity known as Mimizu-kun, which feeds on human sorrow, begins to stir, a character named Kaeru-kun (voiced by Non) emerges to intervene.
