33rd Japan Academy Film Prize
The 33rd Japan Academy Film Prize ceremony took place on March 5, 2010, at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Minato, Tokyo. The event recognized outstanding achievements in Japanese filmmaking throughout the previous year. The ceremony was hosted by Tsutomu Sekine and Tae Kimura.
Major Award Winners
The film The Unbroken, directed by Setsuro Wakamatsu, received the award for Picture of the Year. Ken Watanabe was honored with the award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the same film.

In the category of animation, Summer Wars was named Animation of the Year. Miwa Nishikawa won the award for Screenplay of the Year for Dear Doctor, while Daisaku Kimura was recognized as Director of the Year for The Summit: A Chronicle Of Stones to Serenity.

The award for Outstanding Foreign Language Film was presented to Gran Torino. The ceremony also recognized emerging talent through the Rookie of the Year awards, which included recipients such as Masaki Okada, Hiro Mizushima, and Mirai Shida. The Most Popular Film award was given to Amalfi: Rewards of the Goddess, and Haruka Ayase was voted Most Popular Actor.
